Have you seen a weird castle at the top of Carraro Hills? Tovrea Castle keeps a lot of fascinating secrets. All we can say is that you won’t be disappointed by stopping by for a visit.
Tovrea was bought and constructed envisioning an exclusive resort. The construction of the castle began in 1928 but never opened.
Tours are done from Thursdays to Sundays at different times and are approximately two hours long. It starts with a video of the history of the castle and its connection to Phoenix. Then, you’ll walk into the castle and be able to see their cactus gardens.

Inside the castle
The historic Tovrea Castle opened for public tours in 2012. The tour includes the historic castle’s main floor and basement, extensive grounds, and cactus gardens surrounding the castle.

Tickets are only sold by lottery, so you can sign up and then winners are notified by email. You can read more information here.
The Cactus Gardens
The gardens are still in process of restoration and you can even volunteer to help! The park includes more than 5000 individual cacti and over 100 different varieties.
