A mangy coyote has been spotted frequenting an area near Congress Street and Interstate 10. According to a Facebook post shared by the Arizona Game and Fish Department on Thursday morning, even though coyotes might be seen in the area often, they advise all residents to stay away from it. They also urged anybody who spots it not to feed or water it and haze it, making loud sounds like yelling or slapping.
“BOLO: For this mangy coyote in the Commerce Park Loop area. Don’t illegally feed or water it; haze it away by loudly yelling, clapping, etc. Coyotes are near The Loop and along the Santa Cruz River. Rare bites tend to occur in the spring when pups are denned”, they wrote on a Facebook post. They also urged the public to call 800-352-0700 if they have questions or concerns.
What is mange?
Mange is a skin disease caused by mites, and it can be contagious. It causes intense itching, scabs, and hair loss.
