More than 40 years after its original premiere, “Grease” will return to the big screen as a sweet tribute to its star Olivia Newton-John, who died a few weeks ago from breast cancer.
AMC will have the iconic movie playing on 135 theatres around the country for a $5 admission fee, and $1 of each ticket sold will be donated to breast cancer research.
“To honor the late Olivia Newton-John, many of our US theatres will show her classic 1978 hit movie Grease, again on the big screen”, wrote Adam Aron, AMC’s CEO, on his Twitter. “An inexpensive $5 admission price, and through our charity AMC Cared, we will donate $1 per sold ticket to breast cancer research”.
The movie tells the romantic story of Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko, two teenagers that run into each other in high school after falling in love over summer.
