There’s a new baby at the Phoenix Zoo and you’ll be able to visit it very soon.
A baby girl giraffe was born on February 7 and currently stands at 6-feet-tall and weighs about 150 lbs. The zoo has assured that the cute calf is healthy and spends most of her days close to her mother at the barn.
This is the third calf conceived between an eight-year-old giraffe called Sunshine and the fourth calf fathered by a 13-year-old male Miguu.
Visitors won’t be able to visit the new giraffe until probably March or April, as she and her mother are being held in the barn where they’ll be bonding for the next weeks.
“Sunshine is an incredibly protective mother and we anticipate them to stay off exhibit in their barn, bonding for at least the next few weeks”, the zoo wrote on their Instagram page.
