Local spots to fulfill all your pizza dreams.
Pizza will forever be one of mankind’s favorite foods. Warm gooey cheese and sauce on a perfectly baked crust is just a level of deliciousness that can’t be denied. And with so many different styles and a plethora of options for toppings, pizza can quite literally be whatever you want it to be. Luckily, Phoenix has an amazing selection of local pizza joints where you can get your fix of that picture perfect pie.
Check out these 5 local must-try spots in Phoenix!
1. CiBo
CiBo has been a Phoenix staple for over a decade, serving a full menu of artisanal red and white sauce pizzas. The restaurant is housed in a restored 1913 bungalow and serves lots of Italian favorites, like the classic Margherita, Diavola and Rustica with fresh prosciutto.
Location: 603 North Fifth Avenue
2. Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana
Pomo is as authentic as it gets, using the same pizza-making methods that have been passed down in Naples for centuries. The restaurant prides itself on its fresh ingredients, homemade slow-levitation dough and ‘blast-cooking’ process to make the perfect Napoletana pie.
Location: 705 N First Street, #120 (multiple locations)
3. La Piazza al Forno
La Piazza al Forno is another neighborhood staple serving authentic pies. The restaurant, Verace Pizza Napoletana certified, uses San Marzano tomatoes, double “00” flour and they even make their own mozzarella. Guy Fieri even called this spot a ‘game-changer’ when it was named the Triple D Takeout Winner on a Food Network feature.
Location: 5803 West Glendale Avenue, Glendale
4. The Parlor Pizzeria
This is a great spot for less-than-traditional pies with a slightly different twist. Their Autunale, for example, features sweet potato ricotta, caramelized onion, prosciutto, fig jam, arugula and salted almonds. The Parlor also gives diners the option to build their own pizzas, if you have your own masterpiece in mind.
Location: 1916 East Camelback Road
5. Pizzeria Virtù
This pizza joint is headed by Chef Gio Osso, a local Phoenix favorite who has graced many award-winning kitchens. Pizzeria Virtù’s menu is always changing with delicious new options, but they always stick to the Napoletana tradition of pizza-making. Don’t miss the Affumicata, with charred tomato, smoked scamorza, roasted garlic and basil.
Location: 6952 E Main Street, Scottsdale
