Ready to get your brew on?
Phoenix has an amazing selection of breweries where you can sit back, relax and enjoy your company while sipping on a nice cold one. Not sure where to go? Take a look at our list of the 10 best breweries in the Greater Phoenix area:
1. Wren House Brewing Company
Housed in a cozy converted 1930s bungalow, this taproom is the perfect place to chill in the neighborhood. Although relatively new in Phoenix’s craft beer scene, this newcomer sure is making an impression. Just this year, their Valley Beer was a silver medalist in the Best of Craft Beer awards. Their Devil’s Claw Imperial Stout was also rated Arizona’s Best Beer of 2019 by RateBeer.com. Due to the pandemic, their taproom is currently closed, but they are still fulfilling online orders for delivery and curb-side pickup.
Location: 2125 N. 24th St., Phoenix
Hours: Mon-Fri 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Sat 11:00 am – 6:00 pm, Sun 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (subject to change)
2. SunUp Brewing Co.
As SunUp Brewing, there is something for everyone. They have nine craft beers on tap, four more variations in tanks, and an ever-changing list of cask beers. They even have a root beer on tap, made in-house with all natural sugar! Anything on their list is guaranteed to please, but be sure to try the White Russian Imperial Coffee Stout, which was awarded a bronze medal at last year’s Great American Beer Festival competition. Given the circumstances, their taproom is currently closed, but you can still swing by to pick up cans and growlers to go.

They operate out of two locations, one in Tempe and the other in Uptown Phoenix, but their award-winning brews can be found all over the state. Check out their list of special and limited beers, including Sunday Funday or their Barrel Aged Old Fashioned Magic.

4. Front Pourch Brewing
This family-owned brewery got its start right on – you guessed it – the front porch of their home in Northern Phoenix. Located well outside of the downtown area where many breweries are concentrated, this family of beer fanatics aims to serve the areas north of the 101. Here you will find fourteen well-crafted artisanal beers, including their Three Hopsketeers IPA and Mask*com*mu*ni*ca*tion, a cheeky nod to the many complications of 2020. No food is served at Front Pourch but it is frequented by food trucks if you’re looking for a bite to accompany your brew.

5. PHX Beer Co.
You can find beer from this local hotspot all over the Greater Phoenix area. Visit the restaurant in Scottsdale, the brewery and taproom in Phoenix, or even their location at Sky Harbor International Airport (if you’re flying out of Terminal 3). With fifteen craft beers to choose from, you’re sure to find one (or two, or three) that you love. A couple of interesting brews on their menu include their Tovrea Strong Ale (named after the famous Tovrea Castle) and Morenci Copper Ale.
Location: 3002 E Washington St., Phoenix (other locations)
Hours: Open weekdays 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm
6. O.H.S.O.
Outrageous Homebrewer’s Social Outpost, O.H.S.O. for short, is the epitome of a neighborhood hangout spot. All four of their locations (Gilbert, Arcadia, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley) are dog-friendly, making the perfect stop on your way home from a nice long walk. O.H.S.O. offers an endless variety of beers to choose from, including over 40 in-house and guest brews.

7. Greenwood Brewing Co.
Greenwood Brewing Co. is all about confidence, empowerment and inclusivity. And this new kid on the block is not your average beer spot. Not only is it woman-owned and operated, it also has the light and airy vibes of a trendy coffee shop (which we’re all suckers for, at the end of the day). Try Greenwood’s Herstory Pale Ale or their Harvest Diem Spiced Ale.

8. SanTan Brewing Company
SanTan began in 2007 in Downtown Chandler, and has since moved into a location in Uptown Phoenix and even Sky Harbor International Airport! Here people come for the beer and the food. SanTan offers eleven main brews, available year-round, as well as a list of seasonal favorites and high ABV specialty craft beers (their Vault Series). It’s no wonder that it’s one of the largest breweries in the state.

9. Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co.
This downtown brewery fuses the owners’ passion for the natural beauty of Arizona with their love of artisanal beer. Striving to bring attention to the local agricultural community, they are known for their creative use of local ingredients like seeds, nuts and berries in the brewing process. If you love fall, be sure to try Picacho Pecan Pie, a Northern English Brown Ale brewed specially for the season. They also offer an amazing food menu complete with vegetarian options.

10. Simple Machine Brewing Company
Although originally intended to be a Phoenix location for Tucson favorite Borderlands, this brewery quickly got the attention of the locals. The locale is just beer, but they are unanimously praised for their extensive selection of craft brews. You’re still covered though, if you fancy a bite to eat. The owners schedule food trucks to come by and there is a Mexican restaurant right next door.
